WFO Technical Forum
Increase of Energy and Material Efficiency through Innovative Manufacturing Techniques

The advances in foundry technology have significantly pushed back the limits of what innovative castings can do. Both their material properties and geometric complexity have reached a level today which would have been inconceivable a few years ago. At the same time, the demands made especially on the uniformity and repeatability of cast products are constantly rising.
The call for 0-defect quality combined with a rising standard in energy and material efficiency requires foundries to feature a high degree of process automation – the only way to fulfil the requirements in terms of dimensional accuracy, reproducibility and 0-defect in the production of cast products in the long term. This gives the casting processes a head start over other manufacturing techniques.
The German Foundrymen Assocication (Verein Deutscher Giessereifachleute – VDG) will be organising the WFO Technical Forum at GIFA 2011 in cooperation with the World Foundrymen Organization. This Technical Forum covers all themes relating to process engineering for foundries and informs managers, scientists and casting experts from all over the world on the latest developments.
The subjects covered in the lectures include:
• Casting processes
• Die and core making
• Process simulation, automation and process control
• Energy and material efficiency
The technical & scientific highlight for the global casting sector, the WFO Technical Forum plus the corresponding special exhibitions in hall 13 will be an outstanding opportunity to gain a consistent overview of current developments and to look forward to what lies ahead in the future.
We look forward to welcoming you there!
