Dortmund/Düsseldorf, May 2015. From June 16 to June 20, the parallel fairs GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS and NEWCAST, the leading international trade fairs of their particular industry, will take place in hall 3 to 17 of the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre under the slogan "Bright World of Metals". GoGaS Goch GmbH & Co. KG, the innovation leader in the field of energy-efficient systems for thermal and process heat based in Dortmund, is exhibiting at this year's THERMPROCESS in hall 9, booth A64. The focus is placed on the porous burner technology in combination with a singular power control and solar process heat.

Porous burner technology
GoGaS provides long-wave, medium-wave and short-wave infrared radiant gas heaters, whose use in many drying and preheating processes is associated with significant benefits. Conventional gas-fired infrared heaters operate in the middle wavelength range at about 1,000 °C and a max. energy density of about 250 kW/m². The GoGaS porous burners reach the short-wave infrared range with a radiator core temperature of about 1,450 °C and come to a max. energy density of about 1,000 kW/m². This technology is of great interest for preheating and drying processes, since the performance of existing plants can be increased without major alterations.

Singular power control
In order to improve the process heat controllability, the company GoGaS offers a system with which it is possible to control each singular infrared radiant gas heater of a series automatically depending on the requirements of the performance.

For individual control, no special radiator is required. It can be applied in any existing GoGaS infrared installation. Components of individual control are a porous burner or metal fiber burner, a special mixing tube with integrated volume control unit, a pneumatic cylinder for driving the flow control unit and a proportional control valve.

The excellent properties of the infrared radiant heater technology and the individual control (known in the paper industry as "profile correction") give a high degree of process reliability and thus improve product quality. In order to additionally reduce energy costs, it is sensible to use solar process heat. By using free solar energy, a part of the incalculable costs of conventional energy sources is eliminated.

Solar process heat
Approximately 2/3 of the total energy consumption in industrial enterprises is charged for process heat. In recent years, technologies have been developed for solar heat generation and storage that in combination with higher prices for conventional energy sources create the prerequisites for the interaction that solar thermal energy is used economically in many companies.

Through the increased promotion of the MAP program to 50% of the investment costs, the amortization periods have shortened further. The for many years to come well-calculated heat rates of a solar thermal system can lead to competitive advantages, especially in energy-intensive businesses in medium- and long terms. Primarily in the field of solar air technology, there is great potential. The low production costs, easy installation and the unproblematic operation of the systems allow the use of solar air technology for processes not only for new plants but also for retrofitting.

The free heat from the sun usually completes the heat generation with conventional energy sources such as natural gas, heating oil, district heating or electricity and thus reduces operating costs. It is not mandatory that the entire process heat demand is met by the solar thermal system. After several carried out RETScreen simulations, the solar air system LUBI Wall works with an exceptionally high efficiency of 73.8%.
