The development and introduction of the new pyrometer series CellaTemp PA was accompanied by the creation of the CellaView software to employ the remote control of the device and to record and analyse the measuring data. The software is included in the delivery of the pyrometer and can be loaded and updated from the internet.
The basis of the software is a Microsoft SQL data base. Compared to a file-based storage of measurement values, this modern type of data storage offers extensive functions that so far could not be implemented. On the one hand, the CellaView software is used for parameter setting and remote control of the stationary CellaTemp PA and the portable CellaPort PT devices. On the other hand, the software is used for graphic online display of measurement curves and storage of measurement data.
The modern Windows-based MDI (Multiple Document Interface) user interface enables opening multiple windows and working them in parallel. This offers the option to configure the pyrometer in one window and to watch the effects on the measurement curve at the same time in the second window. All pyrometers connected to the computer through USB interface are automatically detected. The device configurations can be stored in a file, retrieved on request and can easily be transferred to other pyrometers. Storing and importing the configuration data is very helpful for remote maintenance and troubleshooting.
The special feature of the software is the free selection of the measurement values and status information represented in a chart. Values of multiple pyrometers can be combined in the chart as required to make a direct online comparison between several measuring points. It is also possible to select various measuring signals of one pyrometer, for example the original temperature and a smoothed or filtered temperature to directly compare the influence of configuration parameter for measurement value processing. The parallel window technology allows the creation of any number of measurement reading charts for recording the different curves at the same time. For example, the measurement curves of several devices can be shown in separate charts and stored in separate files to protect them from manipulation. Automatic and manual data storage, as well as a log file to verify configuration changes round off the functionality and operation safety of the CellaView software.
The measured values can optionally be stored in CSV format to be able to import them directly into Excel. It is possible to switch between 9 languages from within the program.
The time interval for measurement value acquisition, graphic display and storage can be separately configured. This allows for a high-resolution display of the measurement curve, if required, and simultaneous backup of the data volume with an optimized low-resolution memory structure. The filter function provides additional compressed data storage for long recording processes. The software is license free and can be installed on any number of computers.

In CellaCast recording mode the device allows for quick and easy automatic recording of series of measurements using defined parameter sets, a feature that is very useful for repetitive measurements. In a selection table the user can create any number of parameter sets for different materials and production parameters. The required parameter set is selected at the start of a new series of measurements. Recording starts immediately after adding optional production data, such as client number, order number, designation and batch number. The integrated analysis function also counts the number of workpieces within and outside a defined temperature range. The recording ends when pressing the stop button. The data are stored and the program jumps back to the input screen, ready for the input of a new series of measurement. If required, a protocol can be printed either as a graph or as a table to show the readings and the analysis results.
A classic example of the CellaCast mode is the temperature detection of liquid metal in a casting machine. At the start of each new production batch the parameter set for the casting material is selected and the order data are entered. At the end of the series the data are automatically recorded and the production protocol is created.
The series of measurement are stored in an archive database. The data can easily and quickly be retrieved by setting corresponding filters in the archive. A backup database file is created either for an adjustable period or manually. This file is accessible from all computers that have CellaView installed.
