Only a feature of the “Bright World of Metals” for the second time, but already an impressive success: the ecoMetals campaign organised by Messe Düsseldorf.

It is no secret that sustainability, the minimisation of resource consumption and energy efficiency are current trends in the foundry and metallurgy industries, where energy requirements are high. Back in 2011, this prompted Messe Düsseldorf to launch a special campaign about these issues, to which the leading companies in the industries spontaneously contributed their technological innovations. The emphasis at the four metal trade fairs from 16. to 20. June this year is once again on environmentally sound industrial operations and production.

In 2015, a total of 22 companies will be participating in the ecoMetals campaign with the motto “efficient process solutions” at GIFA, THERMPROCESS, METEC and NEWCAST. A complete list of the ecoMetals participants and their technologies can be found on the trade fair websites in the companies and products section under the heading “The Bright World of Metals”

Companies have been allowed to take part that adopt a progressive and innovative approach to the issue and make optimised energy controlling a priority. They are also expected to save energy or make efficient use of materials and resources in their production operations, while demonstrating climate friendliness in taking advantage of renewable energy sources.

Project Director Friedrich-Georg Kehrer: “Modern resource minimisation and energy efficiency technologies play a not inconsiderable role in investment decision-making by industrial customers. So companies that perform particularly well in these areas will definitely attract plenty of visitors at the four trade fairs too.” In co-operation with the associations VDEh and bdguss, Messe Düsseldorf is therefore organising guided highlight tours of the ecoMetals exhibitors for trade visitors, that will be available in both German and English. Registration for them is possible on the websites in the ecoMetals section.

Professionals who are interested should make sure they obtain their admission tickets to the “Bright World of Metals” from the websites in advance and print them out at home before they leave for the trade fairs. The advantages are obvious: the online day ticket costs EUR 45.00 (on site: EUR 60.00), while the saving is even larger with the five-day ticket: EUR 98.00 online and EUR 130.00 at the exhibition site. In addition to this, the online ticket can already be used for free travel to Messe Düsseldorf on buses and trains in the Rhine-Ruhr public transport system (VRR).

The Bright World of Metals:
The four international technology trade fairs GIFA (International Foundry Trade Fair), METEC (International Metallurgical Trade Fair), THERMPROCESS (International Trade Fair for Thermo Process Technology) and NEWCAST (International Trade Fair for Precision Castings) with more than 2,100 exhibitors and almost 86,000 square metres of stand space are being held in Düsseldorf from 16. to 20. June 2015. Visitors from all over the world will be coming to the city on the River Rhine for five days at this time to focus on castings, foundry technology, metallurgy and thermo process technology. A programme of high-quality additional events will again be taking place alongside the trade fairs, involving seminars, international congresses and lecture series. All four trade fairs and the programmes co-ordinated with them will be concentrating on the issue of energy and resource efficiency. A total of 79,000 experts from 83 different countries visited the previous events in 2011. Further information is available in the Internet at,, und
