Global industrial competition is becoming ever more intense and the mechanical and plant engineering industry urgently needs to prepare for the future. A key factor for the leap into the digital age - i.e. the transformation from traditional product manufacturer to intelligent solution provider - is to combine tried-and-tested methods with digital business models. For this reason, we would like to draw your attention to a short study by the VDMA. The publication presents four stages of digital transformation and the options for action that companies have.

Understanding and controlling hot sand in green sand molding

Controlling hot sand is crucial for achieving consistency and defect-free components in green sand molding. By understanding the causes and consequences of hot sand and implementing effective cooling techniques, foundries can significantly improve their sand preparation processes.

The chip melting furnace at the Kassel foundry, which has been in operation since June 2024, represents significant progress in the recycling cycle. The implementation of this furnace will reduce energy requirements by around 3,250 MWh per year, which will not only optimize operating costs but also reduce the environmental impact.

With the inauguration of its new assembly hall for mega/giga trimming presses, abk Pressenbau is sending a strong signal for innovation and the future. A particular highlight of the event was the live demonstration of the SP30/23-4-300 trimming press in fully automatic operating mode, including an automated tool change – an impressive demonstration of technological excellence.

International Aluminum Symposium in Istanbul
Call for Papers

The 12th International Aluminum Symposium will take place at Istanbul Expo Center on 18 to 20 September 2025. The symposium wll be venued jiontly wth ALUEXPO, the 9th International Aluminum Technology, Machinery and Products Trade Fair. The leaders of the aluminum industry, reputable scientsts, industry specalists and technology providers will be part of the invited speakers and discuss the recent scientfic and academic developments in aluminum industry, including sustainability and recycling, automotive, avation, architectural applications and new production technologies.

Deadlines Paper Submission:
Abstracts: 18 April 2025
Full manuscripts: 27 June 2025
