Indian company JSW STEEL has installed a CSP® Nexus by SMS. This combined casting and rolling mill offers bespoke solutions for unique customer requirements. The spectrum of hot-rolled strip for plate products which this plant can produce includes widths up to 2,600 mm.
For the first time, both hot-rolled strip and sheets with these dimensions can be produced by one and the same plant. This means maximum flexibility. CSP® Nexus is said to not only achieve the highest rates of productivity, but also set new standards regarding efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. The hot strip thickness range from 2.0 to 32.0 mm is extraordinarily large, which offers JSW STEEL a unique opportunity to enter new markets at a competitive cost, especially within the production of “green” sheet steel. The CSP® Nexus plant for JSW is the third of its kind and, with an annual output of four million tonnes, it is the most productive and most high-performing plant in the world. With its CSP® Nexus plant, SMS regards itself as a pioneer in thin strip technology. The plant sets new standards within the steel industry and is set to have a lasting revolutionary effect on the market. SMS will construct the plant at the Dolvi site on the west coast of the Indian federal state of Maharashtra and commence operations in 2026. Source: SMS Group
