Change in the management of the SMS group

In its mission to develop a climate-neutral and sustainable metals industry, the SMS group is driving forward its innovations and establishing an Innovation Hub for future technologies. The new organizational unit is to work on accelerating existing technologies and bringing them to market maturity.  

To this end, there are new responsibilities in the management team as of May 1, 2023. Hans Ferkel, CTO, and member of the Executive Board since 2019, will lead and build up the new SMS Innovation Hub as CEO. His successor as CTO on the management board will be Thomas Hansmann, who was most recently responsible for the metallurgy business of the SMS group and as CTO of SMS subsidiary Paul Wurth.

Hans Ferkel is the ideal person to use his broad know-how for this purpose.
