Enapter is selling its new multicore: the latest order comes from UK fuel cell manufacturer Intelligent Energy Limited (IEL). The 1-MW plant is scheduled for delivery in 2024.
Enapter to supply AEM Multicore to Intelligent Energy for hydrogen production for fuel cell tests
IEL produces hydrogen fuel cells for various applications. The AEM Multicore will produce hydrogen at IEL's Loughborugh plant for testing fuel cells manufactured there. Delivery is scheduled for 2024, according to a press release from Enapter.
In particular, the IE-DRIVE™ and IE-FLIGHT™ range for transportation, stationary power supply and aviation will benefit from the electrolyzer, it said. For example, the green hydrogen will be used in the final acceptance testing of the fuel cells.
David Woolhouse, CEO of Intelligent Energy Ltd. said, "The flexibility of the Multicore system, with its superior efficiency and proven core, gives us exactly what we need to test our fuel cell systems up to 300 kW in size."
Enapter starts pre-series production of AEM Multicore and secures order from IEL
The order came shortly after the official unveiling of the first AEM Multicore in May in Saerbeck, Germany. Pre-series production of the devices is now starting at the Enapter campus there. The AEM Multicore consists of 420 core modules, the so-called "AEM stacks".
The stacks are combined into a total system that produces 450 kg of green hydrogen per day, according to Enapter. The purity is 99.999 %, he said. The idea of the multicore is that scaling many small units into a total system significantly reduces the cost of the green hydrogen produced.
IEL's fuel cells are already being used in conjunction with Enapter's AEM electrolysers. The Energy Management System Toolkit (EMS) is designed to help combine the components.
Enapter continues to see high demand for AEM multicore and plans to expand production
