In keeping with the spirit of company founder Carlo N. Pasini, FERALPI STAHL has been producing steel in Riesa for more than 30 years, always keeping people and the environment in mind. The Feralpi Group's investments planned over the next few years, with a total volume of more than 220 million euros, reinforce the Feralpi Group's roots in the German location - around 800 people produce steel products for the construction industry here.
“Riesa is our home. In the future we want to produce green steel here; always with the awareness that the steelworks is surrounded by industry, but also living space. For this reason, we have been publishing our most important key figures since 2012 and allowing the public to take a look behind the scenes in the truest sense of the word,” explains Uwe Reinecke, Director of FERALPI STAHL.
Honored with EMAS seal
FERALPI STAHL is one of only two steelworks in Germany that is allowed to bear the EMAS seal - this way the company's consistent efforts are rewarded. Compliance with strict parameters is mandatory for the EU's highest seal of quality in environmental management. The underlying specifications go far beyond the relevant DIN regulations. Regulations that the people of Riesa accept with full conviction, like Dr. Mathias Schreiber, Director of the Integrated Management System confirms:
“Our commitment to the environment is not a trend that we have just discovered, but has always been the basis of our actions. The numbers and also our communication efforts show that we take every comment from our neighbors very seriously and continue to find ways to consistently reduce emissions.”
For example, the dedusting system at the Riesa factory is unparalleled and is considered the best available technology, or BVT for short, a reference system for one of the most effective dedusting and dioxin reductions in electric steelworks.
Other Projects
With the more than 220 million euros, the Feralpi Group is primarily financing the construction of a second, emission-free rolling mill, as well as its own substation, a new scrap processing plant and an adapted logistics concept on the factory premises. Together, the investment projects will have a lasting positive impact on the Riesa-based steel manufacturer's environmental balance.
