Installation of New KOCKS Reducing and Sizing Block at Huaigang Special Steel Co. Ltd.

The steel producer Huaigang Special Steel Co. Ltd. has rolled its first bar on the new KOCKS RSB® 500++/4 in 5.0 design. Huaigang Special Steel is a subsidiary of the Shagang Group, the world's sixth largest steel producer and one of China's largest privately owned industrial companies. 

The two companies have already cooperated on several past occasions in a trusting manner. Huaigang is currently installing the third KOCKS reducing and sizing block. This new project is preceded by earlier ones from between 2010 and 2019. A fourth plant is currently under construction. 

With the installation of the largest KOCKS block in the existing bar mill, the Chinese SBQ manufacturer is expanding its capacity to produce high-quality special steel for various industries. Currently, the line produces steels with diameters ranging from 70 to 160 mm in the dimensional range and is located in an H/V arrangement after six stands. The KOCKS 3-roll technology used in the RSB® improves Huaigang Special Steel's production capabilities, which in turn has a positive impact on the overall efficiency of the rolling mill operation. 

In addition to the RSB® 500++/4 from KOCKS, the order includes the latest software solutions for the corresponding roll shop. Despite the numerous pandemic-related challenges, the project team was able to complete the installation efficiently and quickly.
