KUKA celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its new education and training center together with representatives from the city of Augsburg and the Swabian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The new concept at the company headquarters in Augsburg combines modern training and education facilities across 8,290 m2.
Starting in the first half of 2020, the new building will house a large training center which will combine training courses as well as the complete program for apprentice training, service, personnel development and continuing education.
“Training and education are a KUKA flagship. We are investing in the next generation and thus in the future of the company,” stated Peter Mohnen, CEO of KUKA AG. New technologies such as robotics and digitalization are being introduced into production and into the everyday working lives of employees. This requires continuing profession-al development and up-to-date training concepts.
This is why apprentice training workshops with modern equipment and robtics training facilities will move into the new building in order to offer the more than 200 apprentices at the site comprehensive training and continuing education. “With its new training center, KUKA is offering young people an attractive working environment with state-of-the-art equipment and connections to local public transportation,” notes Head of Apprenticeship Manfred Schussmann.
At the moment, the training facility is still located on Zusamstrasse in Augsburg-Lechhausen while the rooms for continuing education are spread out across the KUKA site. These areas will now be bundled together in the new training center.
KUKA AG is an internationally active company with sales of around 3.5 billion euro and roughly 14,200 employees. It is one of the world’s leading suppliers of intelligent automation solutions. Their headquarters are in Augsburg, Germany.
