TriAlCo, a leading aluminium producer from North America, and FEHRMANN, a pioneer in the development of aluminium alloys, have taken an important step for international expansion by announcing their partnership. Jay Armstrong, President of TriAlCo, and Henning Fehrmann, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of FEHRMANN, have signed an agreement concerning the exchange of know-how and licensing. This agreement marks the beginning of a new era in the production and distribution of aluminium.
FEHRMANN’s AlMgty, a novel alloy, is all but ready to set new standards in industries like the automotive, aviation, electronics and electronic entertainment sectors. With outstanding properties like extraordinary strength and flexibility, resistance to corrosion and the option of coloured anodising, it stands apart. The alloy offers a decrease in weight of 20 to 30% without any loss of stability, which makes it especially attractive to any sector looking for lighter and more efficient materials. Its environmentally friendly method of production, which uses hydro power exclusively, ensures that carbon emissions are minimised and thereby supports the global commitment to protect the environment.
AlMgty is characterised economically by its potential to reduce costs by more than 10%. This advantage results from its more efficient component design as well as lower material requirements and production costs. Due to its versatility, the alloy is suitable for different industrial production processes, including casting, extrusion and additive manufacturing processes. This makes AlMgty a flexible solution for a wide variety of applications.
Granting TriAlCo a licence to produce and market AlMgty marks the beginning of a new era for innovative foundries in the USA, Mexico and Canada. This development is the foundation for a strong and sustainable local supply chain for this material. “AlMgty is not just a product”, says Jay Armstrong, President of TriAlCo. “It is a catalyst for changes in the aluminium industry. The unique combination of strength and ductility, sustainability and efficiency sets new standards for what our customers can expect.”
Henning Fehrmann, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board at FEHRMANN, adds: “Our cooperation with TriAlCo is proof of our commitment to innovation and sustainability.” AlMgty is the result of years of research and development, and we are excited to see its impact on the whole of North America. It is a milestone for our internationalisation.”
