Reliable high resolution recognition of defects in multi-material structural components

As a high-performance all-in-one solution for efficient quality tests, VoluMax 9 titan by ZEISS combines compact design with highly powerful technology. With a power of 450 kV the system reliably and consistently recognises defects in large and very dense structural components and complex assemblies of a size of up to 590 x 700 mm. With 1,500 W and a 3k detector, the workpieces are rapidly inspected in high resolution.

Computer tomographs (CT) are suitable for a broad spectrum of applications that pose different demands regarding efficiency and quality, for example battery modules, stators, turbine blades or electronic components.

The connection of the new CT to the ZEISS Quality Suite is one of the large advantages of the system. All steps, from operating the CT to the evaluation of the high-resolution 3D volumetric data sets to subsequent reporting and publishing, can be fully completed during inspection with the software solution “Volume Inspect”. For this purpose, the software integration offers access to multiple extensions. For example, the optional software “Automated Defect Detection” (ZADD) uses AI to further optimise automated scanning processes for defect recognition.

The computer tomograph is very compact, with floor space requirements of only 750 x 2,350 x 1,750 mm. This way, the device can be perfectly installed inside any testing laboratory or in immediate vicinity to the production line. The integrated operation panel and axial system for simple loading guarantee a high degree of flexibility and effective use even in very small spaces. The combination of robust design and various hardware and software services by ZEISS guarantee a long service life and low maintenance needs.
