Thomas Körmendi has been appointed President and CEO of Norican, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the company as it continues to strengthen its position as a global provider of metal forming and surface preparation solutions. Reflecting on his new role, Körmendi highlighted the long-term importance of metal as a sustainable material: "Metal is one of the defining materials of the future. It is recyclable, built to last, and indispensable in industries ranging from electric mobility to renewable energy. At Norican, we are transforming the way manufacturers work with metal by making production more sustainable, efficient, and digitally connected. During my first months, my priority will be to gain a deep understanding of the business while engaging closely with colleagues throughout our global organization and across all our brands. Together with our customers, we will accelerate innovation, grow our presence in strategic markets, and build even stronger long-term relationships. Our goal is to help manufacturers respond more quickly to change, embrace new opportunities with confidence, and develop workplaces that will attract and inspire future generations. I am excited to lead Norican as we enter this next stage of our journey."
Following a successful period of expansion under the leadership of former President and CEO Anders Wilhjelm, the Board of Directors of Norican A/S ("Norican"), whose majority owner is the private equity firm Altor Fund IV ("Altor"), has selected Thomas Körmendi to lead the company as its new President and CEO. Søren Johansen, Partner at Altor, commented on the appointment: "Anders Wilhjelm has guided Norican through a period of outstanding performance. We are very pleased to welcome Thomas, whose extensive international leadership experience and proven track record make him exceptionally well qualified to drive the company's continued growth and create lasting value for customers as well as all other stakeholders."
Leadership Background and Industry Expertise
Before joining Norican, Thomas Körmendi spent eight years as CEO of the Norwegian packaging company Elopak. During his tenure, he oversaw the company’s international growth strategy and successfully guided its transition to a publicly listed business. He later left the position to relocate back to his home country of Denmark. Speaking about his new appointment, Körmendi expressed his enthusiasm: "I am very excited to become part of Norican. The company combines a remarkable history with globally recognized market-leading brands, an extensive international footprint, and a dedicated team whose expertise and industry knowledge are truly exceptional."
