MALMEDIE gear-couplings are designed with crowned teeth, and are used where torques must be transmitted through shafts that are movable on all sides.
The range manufactured is not limited to the coupling series illustrated in this catalogue, but also includes a wide range of special designs made to satisfy a great variety of customers wishes. MALMEDIE gear-couplings can compensate angular, radial and axial misalignments. In the case of the standard ranges of couplings, the capacity to compensate for misalignment is up ± 0.75° per coupling half, depending on the version. Special versions capable of ± 5° can be supplied.
Frictional forces can result from the movement of the teeth, and can affect the following parts. Axial forces applied from outside are transmitted to the maximum level of tangential force x friction factor.
The MALMEDIE Drum-Coupling type TTXs is a further development of the TT, RTT, NTT and TTX versions, which have been proven successful over many years. The new development exhibits an increase in capacity, accompanied by significantly improved operating security and also meets with customers demands for higher capacities smaller weights and installation space. The connection dimensions ensure the possibility to replace former types.The transmission of force within the drumcoupling takes place through positive locking. Hardened barrel rollers, placed in the holes formed by the two circular gearings, are used as force transmitting elements. From coupling size 2 upwards, the barrel rollers are driven axially. The cover and housing, combined with the seals, prevent both the ingress of foreign bodies and the leakage of lubricant. The torque is transmitted to the rope drum via the flattenings on the outer diameter of the coupling housing and via the friction between the coupling housing and the flanged wheel.
A pointer fixed to the outer cover, and a corresponding milled mark on the coupling hub (new execution, utility model protection) allow external control on the wear and the axial position of the coupling housing in relation to the coupling hub. It is not necessary to dismantle the coupling for this purpose.
As an option for the series TTXs, an automatic wear control (Malmedie patent) is available. With this option, a gearbox-mounted proximity switch gives a signal (e.g. to the crane PLC) at 80% wear. The automatic wear control can be also retrofitted on the TTXs series.
