Channel induction furnace for holding and superheating for continuous or semi-continuous casting of brass and copper billets. Standard capacity from 8 t up to 50 ton with adequate power and up to 350 kW by unique air-cooling. For higher power cooling is with mixed air and water system.
Inoculator, fixed next to pouring spout, is composed by a Fe-Si powder-loading hopper and a variable-speed motor. A geared motor reduces rotation speed and activates an Archimedes screw, that pushes the powder into a pipe till impacting molten iron flow on casting. Thanks to this configuration, the equipment allow to rich a very good tolerance, less than 3%. Device drive automatically configures screw rotation speed, according to casting parameters provided by the operator, as cast total weight and powder percentage to blow. Meant parameters are matched to taught casting curve to determine proper screw rotation speed, and achieving desired supply. On manual-working mode, operator enters desired supply value (g/s) on HMI inoculator; the system would activate as soon as casting joystick is moved from rest position. Four sensors are deputed to grant system perfect efficiency and are meant to detect: • Powder in primary hopper. • Powder in secondary hopper. • Clog pipe. • Motor rotation. • Dosing screw rotation Inoculation occurs hence meanwhile pouring cycle is on. Operator simply entries desirable powder percentage related to full casting weight and tuning system will constantly supply uniform powder through the whole pouring flow and time. Value-setup procedure follows: • Tap F7 to open Inoculator page. • Entry automatic mode powder percentage (%/100). • Entry manual mode rotation speed (g/s). The system features also a test function, that replicates last occurred pour, to allow operator to gauge supplied powder weight.
