Deep pores impregnated – clean surfaces

Our sealants treat components against liquid and gaseous media. Temperature stability is guaranteed within the working range -110°C to +200°C. The IMP impregnation sealants are extremely resistant against acids, caustic solutions, solvents and gases. Impregnation sealants can clearly be seen in blue when examined under a UV light.
Protecting the environment

Our sealant is ideal for environmental protection. We have developed a recycling system for the application of our impregnation sealants. This means that impregnating plants can be managed free of waste water. THIS PROTECTS THE ENVIRONMENT AND GIVES ECONOMIC ADVANTES. We have carefully chosen the raw material contents. Mono and polyfunctional acrylates and methacrylates can be disposed of without problem and in an environmentally friendly way.

Waste management

Liquid waste is a major consideration in the impregnation process. The increasing cost of waste management means that it is now a serious consideration for most customers. IMP has always produced products that are among the most environmentally friendly impregnation products available.

IM3000 has unique properties that allow for efficient control of effluent. With the correct machine design IM3000 will provide one of the lowest effluent volumes of any standard sealant. Utilising these unique properties has also allowed Imp to develop a range of options for effluent reduction and treatment. These options are designed to meet the customers’ requirements, not the sealant manufacturers, and are both cost effective and easy to install. The solutions are modular allowing the customer to increase the effluent control as production or costs increase.

Recycling Sealant is only one solution to effluent reduction. The IMP range of recycling sealants can be used in most conventional systems, but are most effective in fast cycle time machines where machine design generally means high carry over and lack of draining. Combined with the WBS evaporator system (that can also be uniquely used on machines using IM3000 non recycling sealant) the waste produced by an impregnation system can be reduced to the absolute minimum.

Special water chemistry CT range

Castings processed through Impregnation Systems using Methacrylate based Porosity sealants and a hot water cure often experience inconsistent surface protection.

The CTK product range has been developed specifically for this difficult and changing environment. The CTK range has been developed to work with a wide range of water qualities. Products in the range can provide protection for aluminium alloys, mild and stainless steel, cast iron, copper, magnesium, brass and bronze components.

Uniquely, a single CTK product may protect a range of different metals processed through the same hot cure bath. The correct choice of CTK product can often extend the life of the hot cure tank.

International Metall IMPrägnier GmbH was founded in February 1986 in Langenfeld. Through intensive research and development, IMP became one of the world-wide leaders in impregnating sealants in only one decade.

Intensive internal development led to the development of the universally applicable impregnation resin IM3000 in 1987. Due to it’s outstanding characteristics, sales of IM3000 rose rapidly, such that by 1990 IMP had to be relocated to its own larger production facilities to supply the increased demand. By using a strictly customer-oriented company structure, and with competence, commitment and the high acceptance of IM3000 in the world-wide market the sales volume rose constantly and lead to further expansion in 1993 and 1996. The production process was automated with the help of a SPS which improves the quality and helps in cost reduction.

By continuous research and intensive user and customer feedback different sealants, including recyclable sealants, have been developed. In 1996 a new recyclable resin was developed using a centrifuge to separate the resin form the wash water. With this technique an impregnating line can operate virtually waste water free. That protects the environment and brings economic advantages.

Together with our partner company Ing. Hubert Maldaner GmbH we cover the entire know-how of the impregnation process: starting with the development of manufacturing the products up to the equipment construction, the job shop impregnation and the valuable material recycling, as well as questions regarding waste water treatment.

The secret of our success is, however, the independence and flexibility of IMP, which at any time, is able to respond rapidly on the changing problems of customers and the market. Our quality orients itself strictly at the requirements of the customer. In addition it guarantees reliable rapid supply, dependability, flexibility and a permanent care of the product quality.
All this convinces our customers,
because they profit directly from it.

Our impregnation materials with their outstanding characteristics are used for special areas of application in the most diverse industrial ranges. Main operational areas are the automotive industry where IMP sealants are approved by all the main international car manufacturers. Other uses are manufacturers of powdered metal parts, armatures, drinking water components, gearboxes, pneumatics and hydraulic components, wheel rims, steering gear housings and gas controllers. These are just a small selection of the many uses for IMP sealants.
