Since the beginning of its activity in 1946, IDRA has always distinguished itself for its commitment in innovation. In fact, it was the first supplier of pressure die casting machines to produce toggle-type machines which revolutionised the market during the Fifties and Sixties, and to manufacture the first series of two-platen toggle free machines at the beginning of 2000.
The latest machine line “OL S”, from 420 to 4200 tons, remains true to the heavy dimensions which characterize IDRA machines and made them renowned worldwide, employing at the same time the most advanced technical solutions, among which the closed loop control of the injection speed and intensification pressure, whose high velocity and response time are particularly important in case of high quality demanding castings.
The same injection performance is obtained on the second generation of 2-platen machines, characterized by a clamping unit individually mounted on the 4 tie bars with hydraulic actuators of reduced oil volume to guarantee the same clamping strength as standard toggle machines.
Not only high integrity castings, but also structural components for motor vehicle frame and body are requested today in Aluminium with mechanical characteristics which cannot be reached by means of traditional die casting technology. This is why IDRA has developed the new machines line called NoX (No Oxide), using the principle of high vacuum level in the die, which enables the production of structural castings with high metallurgical integrity.
