UPCAST OY - Exclusive supplier of the original UPCAST®-technology
The upward continuous casting method - better known simply as UPCAST® - was originally developed by the Finnish Outokumpu Group in the late '60s. This revolutionary technology was the outcome of innovative thinking and solid production experience. The first UPCAST® production line - still in use - was installed in 1971 at the group's own facilities in Pori. Since those times nearly 200 casting lines have been delivered worldwide making UPCAST® the undisputed market leader in its field.
As a result of Outokumpu Group's decision to divest its copper business a new, independent company called UPCAST OY was established in 2006 to carry the UPCAST® legacy into the future. Central to this legacy has always been an innovative spirit as well as a strong commitment to customer support.
At the birth of UPCAST OY it was decided to intensify R&D activities. One fine outcome stemming from this strategic decision is our new UPCAST®-SGTube system producing thin-walled copper tubes ready for direct drawing. We have also just recently doubled the size of our testing facilities. This allows us to step up our R&D work even further which is good news to all "UPCAST®-family" members.
