Can-Eng Furnaces is at the forefront of the aluminum heat treating technology and will be showcasing its Basketless Heat Treating System (BHTS®) for the efficient treatment of aluminum intensive automotive engine blocks, cylinder heads, structures and suspension components at GIFA. Can-Eng's Basketless Heat Treating System® reduces energy consumption by 40% and floor space requirements by 30% when compared to conventional roller hearth systems. The BHTS® incorporates a unique material handling system that provides for single piece product flow. This lean manufacturing concept transfers castings through the system without the use of baskets, carriers or trays. The elimination of baskets which require continuous repairs and replacement reduces capital and operating costs and also reduces energy consumption required to process product. The BHTS® design results in a more compact footprint with significantly less maintenance requirements. Options exist for unique system layouts, which can be integrated into lean manufacturing cells.
