Highly-precise distance measurement and reliable data transmission
Symeo GmbH is presenting the new wireless system LPR®-1D24 at METEC. Apart from centimeter-precise distance measurements, the innovative system can also reliably transmit positioning information and other data such as the actual crane payload using the LPR®'s own wireless channel. The robust, WiFi-independent system is suitable for all types of cranes and vehicles.
LPR®-1D24 operates in the international, license-free 24 GHz ISM band, which eliminates potential interference with WiFi networks. Multiple antennas incorporated in the device provide redundant measurement signals for a high level of measurement accuracy, even down to the centimeter. Only a single pair of sensors is required to carry out precise measurements over a distance of up to 1,000 meters.
At the same time the device can capture crane and vehicle data, such as the payload or loading status, and transmit the information to a stationary communication unit over the LPR®'s own wireless channel. LPR®-1D24 is robust, easy to install and can be used indoors and outdoors for applications such as material tracking or collision avoidance. The fault-tolerant device is dependable even in harsh environments where dirt, dust and vibrations are common.
Symeo is also planning to certify the performance levels of the device in accordance with EN ISO 13849 in order to use the redundant measurements for safety-critical applications. Furthermore, LPR®-1D24 is supposed to have the capability to determine the angle between two tilted cranes or vehicles.
