F 88 SC and F 88 PYC: Materials

VIGOT fire sleeves are made of a mineral backing material with a special impregnated coating. This heat protection mesh is harmless and fully meets the requirements of health and safety regulations. The special coating is self-extinguishing and does not contain halogenated flameproof substances.


The coatings are resistant to oil and solvents. They have top mechanical resistance as well as good wear resistance. Thanks to the extraordinary thickness of the mesh, backing material and coating, the sleeves can reach extremely high levels of short-term resistance to high temperatures, puncturing and heat transfer.

Tests and certifications
The materials and products have been submitted to the following tests and received the following certifications:

Type test by the Germanischer Lloyd classification society as per DIN EN ISO 15540 and
CEN TS 45545 on the functional integrity of the product to be protected at 800°C for over 30 min.
(flame test). Continual temperature of +200°C in drying furnace with subsequent functional
integrity for the product to be protected.

Special Model: Strips and Pads

Strips and pads cut to measure with a width of up to 950 mm and a length of up to 50 m are available. These formats are perfect for special applications such as welding curtains or cable ducts. By fastening the ready-made pads, you can coat almost any desired diameter. Moreover, securing straps with Velcro, snap, hook-and-loop and spherical head fasteners can ensure correct fitting to any application, e.g., cable ducts or very large pipe ­diameters. Fire sleeves can be connected to the ­fittings on hoses or cables by wrapping thin self-welding silicone tape several times around the sleeves. Make sure that the edges overlap enough.

Alongside VIGOT F 88 SC, F 88 PYC, F 88 SC Flex and F 88 VIGOSIL fire sleeves that can be applied or slipped on when fitting hoses or wire harnesses, there are also products for retrofitting. The base material is the same as the F88 SC with various fastening options.

For all four versions, the fastener is lined with special coated Kevlar® strips, providing additional protection of the edges along the entire length of the cut surface. In DK, DV and KK metal fasteners, thermal bridging is also prevented.

For practical purposes, it is essential to know whether the application is either static or dynamic.

The Maximall S 2000 hose system was designed as a flame-resistant hose system for applications in marine engineering. It is used in the filling and supply area of ships.

The fire sleeves act as a cover for hose lines and cables to protect them from the effects of fire from the outside. They consist of a mineral base material with a special impregnation. Due to the density of the fabric, the wall thickness of the base material and the coating thickness, the fire sleeves are able to withstand extreme temperatures for a short time. Added to this is a high puncture resistance. Besides hoses that are assembled during the packing stage, the customer is also supplied with products for subsequent assembly.

Hose lines and systems form the core competence of VIGOT.
