Mould coating

Gibson Centri Tech produces two types of mould coating specifically designed for centrifugal casting applications to assist traction on the coated surface allowing even flow of metal during the casting process, control cooling rates and enabling ease of extraction of the casting. Systematic mould preparation will provide long-term scrap reduction benefit. For the best results the mould surface must be completely free from dust traces from the previous cast. Failure to completely clean the whole mould surface runs the risk of coating spalling for the next cast, resulting in sticking or defective casting surfaces. The mould should be pre-heated to correct temperature to aid adhesion.

Why Choose Centrifugal Casting?

Centrifugal casting results in a superior casting with improved mechanical properties and purer structure when compared to static casting. Centrifugal casting also requires no in-gates or feeder heads. It is comparable to forged castings in terms of mechanical properties and micro structure but with substantial savings on capital equipment. The Centrifugal casting process is not limited to a specific type or analysis as most metals are castable and bimetal castings are possible.

THE UGV RANGE

The Gibson Centri-Tech range of vertical axis machines have proven in the field over many years.Following the original design and manufacture some years ago, much larger units have been developed and successfully installed in foundries producing general engineering, rolling mill roll castings and turbine engines unit rings in high nickel alloys.

The latest range of vertical axis machines which are now built continue to cover a wide range of casting weights and sizes, employing the latest technology in programmable controls.
