Interface Controller module.

Each Multidrop is a two-piece pyrometer unit offering a variety of sensor heads with temperature ranges between 0°C and 2100°C. The sensor heads cover multiple spectral ranges and optics thus providing an array of solutions for your application requirements.

The Interface Controller module acts as a digital display as well as provides analogue and digital signal output. It also provides power and communications to the connected sensor heads and allows for parameterization of sensor heads through built-in user interface keypad or through service software.

P-GM Portable Glass Mould Pyrometer

The P-GM (Portable Glass Mould Thermometer) is a hand held, battery powered Non-Contact thermometer designed primarily for the measurement of mould temperatures in container glass industry. It gives
an instantaneous reading of the temperature with the press of a single switch.

Readings taken are stored into memory and logged with Serial number and date/time for review later. Stored temperature readings are held in memory until deleted, they are not lost when the unit is turned off or the
battery is removed. it provides a powerful data logging capability with storage for up to 1000 measurements.

P-GM comprises a hand held thermometer and processor, interconnected by a short rugged, detachable cable. The thermometer has an infrared detector with associated electronics and a rigid fibre optics probe,
the tip of which is momentarily touched to the hot surface to make a measurement.

A450C PL/TL

Two Color IR Pyrometer

A450C is highly accurate, two colour infrared pyrometer working on dual wavelengths. The infrared pyrometer uses ratio method and measures the temperature of an object by calculating the ratio of the energies at two different wavelength bands.


The dual wavelength or ratio thermometer is used in variety of applications in Steel(Induction heating,forging,annealing,welding,sintering and rolling mills),Cement(kiln burning zone ),Glass(Gob temperature measurement) and crystal growing.


A Single color pyrometer is not suitable for applications where smoke,watervapour,dust and other contaminants are present .For such application two color pyrometer is recommended, as it is highly accurate and elimanates or reduces errors in temperature measurement.There is no effect of changes in emissivity,surface finish and energy absorbing materials such as water vapour,dust etc between the pyrometer and the measuring object.Even If emissivity of the material is unkown , the temperature measurement will not be affected as the radiation ratio remains constant in two color technology..

The two color pyrometer can measure wide temperature range from 600°C...2500°C with response time within fraction of second(20 msec). The IR thermometer has IP65 stainless steel housing which protects the onboard electronics and assures high operational safety in harsh industrial environments.
These pyrometers can be switched between single and two color mode. Parameters like,
emissivity ratio, emissivity, response time, analog output sub-range are adjustable through the software AST Infrasoft.

A450C is provided with USB 2.0 connector with cable.The pyrometer can be powered through USB port. The pyrometers come alongwith different sightings such as laser targeting(PL)or through the lens view finder(TL) for high precison alignment or targeting.

Temperature Measurement is crucial for Aluminum Extrusion

 

Accurate Sensor Technologies, has introduced a unique line of proprietary pyrometers that use new approach for remote temperature measurement. These proprietary pyrometers provide highly accurate, non-contact measurement of true target temperatures, regardless of target emissivity and intermediate conditions.


Unlike other pyrometers, these products are not sensitive to changes in emissivity or other target
parameters and are not affected by the intermediate conditions between the pyrometer and the target. As a result, AST/3T’s pyrometers are the only products available today capable of handling the unstable targets and intermediate conditions commonly found in the aluminum, steel and other metals industries while still indicating the target temperature to a high degree of accuracy.


Advantages Of Using AST Systems For Measuring Precise Temperatures In Aluminum
Extrusion Lines

1. Productivity –Allows for increased extrusion speed;
2. Quality – Better profiles reduce amount of scrap produced;
3. Energy – Saves gas or electricity at the die furnace, billet furnace and container electrical element.
Installation Locations For AST/3T Pyrometers On Aluminum Extrusion Lines

There are three locations where the AST pyrometer can be placed:

A. Press Exit
B. Billet Furnace Exit OR before the Billet Loader
C. On the Extrusion Cooling Table

By measuring the temperature of aluminum profiles at the press exit the following advantages can be
achieved:

INCREASED PRESS SPEED – As extrusion speed is increased productivity is increased. For example, if
aluminum profiles are usually extruded at a low temperature of 520°C and the extrusion temperature
is increased to 560°C, the extrusion press speed can be dramatically increased.

Customers  report increased productivity rates of 5 - 10% .

QUALITY – Emissivity is a surface parameter with a value between 0 to 1. Low emissivity leads to a
mirror profile surface. When low emissivity is maintained, the surface quality is higher. 3T’s systems
provide a display showing the emissivity of each profile, resulting in better profiles.
When profiles are extruded at very high temperatures, for example between 580°C to 600°C, product
may be damaged. 3T pyrometers can prevent this damage.
IDEAL EXTRUSION – is accomplished by using the maximum temperature, the optimal pressing speed
and minimum emissivity.

a. To achieve Ideal Extrusion collect following data from each extrusion:
1) Press speed
2) Temperature 3) Emissivity 4) Quantity per hour

b. Data can be collected:

1) Manually: from  controller display

2) By chart recorder: 0 - 10V from 3T’s controller

3) By computer: from 3T’s controller (RS 232 or RS 485 compatible).

c. The data is analyzed and, based on this information, instructions regarding the optimal press speed are given to the press operator. Using AST pyrometers, a press operator can use the information obtained, along with his experience, to achieve the best extrusion process possible. COMBINED CLOSED LOOP CONTROL – AST'S controller signals can be combined with a closed loop control system allowing for the automatic control of press speed.

B. BILLET FURNACE EXIT By measuring the temperature of aluminum profiles at the billet furnace exit or positioned before the billet loader the following advantages can be achieved: Prevents A Hot Or Cold Billet From Entering The Press: A hot billet damages the profile resulting in a low quality. A cold billet causes maintenance problems. Better control of the billet furnace temperature allows for improved control of the furnace.

QUALITY – The emissivity measurement provides the user with a parameter for controlling the quality of the billet.

PRODUCTIVITY – Control of the profile temperature assists in increasing productivity. ENERGY – Billet temperature control can result in energy savings at the billet furnace.

C. AT THE COOLING TABLE By measuring the temperature of aluminum profiles at the cooling table where profile temperatures range between 200°C - 230°C the following advantages can be achieved: IMPROVED MECHANICAL PROPERTIES RESULT IN BETTER QUALITY. Profiles must be cooled with precise timing. VENTILATION UNITS CAN BE CONTROLLED WITH THE 3T PYROMETER.

We recommend to adopt all three applications in order to achieve temperature control and an isothermal extrusion process. Remember if you wish to join the superextruders, who always have time enough to make profit, begin by concentrating on three things:

E250 PL and E450 PL are highly economic digital IR pyrometers with extended sensor head and separate electronic box for non-contact temperature measurement of metals, ceramics and graphite etc in temperature ranges between 250°C and 1900°C.

Most of the applications can be solved with a single colour pyrometer. Single colour pyrometers are available in various wavelengths from 0.9……14microns depending the application. In single colour measurement, emissivity is an important factor for accurate measurement.Metals are measured in near wavelength, non metals in mostly 8…14 micron wavelength. Special application like Glass surface is measured at 5.14, measurement through flame at 3.9 microns etc…In single colour measurement, emissivity is an important factor for accurate measurement.

Two Color/Dual wavelength Pyrometers

In conditions like dusty,smoky ambient with presence of vapour ,hot metals in liquid form, or measurement through glass window which is possible to contaminate over a period of time, or if measured object is smaller than the spot size of the pyrometer for all such cases a  two colour pyrometer is used.For example a steel billet can be accurately measured using a single colour pyrometer. If the ambient is dusty then for the same application a two colour may be required.
