MUEGGE GmbH is an internationally leading manufacturer and provider of industrial microwave heating and microwave plasma systems and of the related components. For more than 25 years, MUEGGE has developed, produced and supplied high-quality microwave continuous wave (cw) and pulse solutions for applications which require power ranges of 300W to 100kW of single microwave power systems at frequencies of 5800MHz, 2450MHz and 915MHz. MUEGGE continues to develop and integrate industry-leading microwave power solutions that are optimized and integrated into state-of-the-art and future-oriented technologies. The most demanding requirements are met by MUEGGE's advanced systems, plant and process technologies, resulting in an integrated concept that is based upon the scientific and technological experience of the ISO 9001:2008 certified company. MUEGGE offers high voltage, microwave and plasma sources for various sizes, power levels and applications. MUEGGE product developments include large area linear plasma sources, remote plasma sources, modular plasma arrays and various small, medium and large area industrial heating applications.

All areas of industrial production, be it manufacturing of basic materials or of consumer goods, rely on an inestimable number of thermal processes. This is where microwave heating and drying technology assumes a prime position: due to the large penetration depth of the microwave concerning a wide variety of different materials, thermal energy can be deposited directly into the core of the product being heated. This means fast controllability, high processibility and also maximum flexibility with high energy efficiency. Be it in the rubber or wood industry, in the food or food packaging industry, in the pharmaceutical industry or in the medical engineering, in the glass or ceramics industry, in all these areas microwaves offer the greatest advantages compared with conventional product heating or drying. In their facilities in Reichelsheim (Odenwald), approximately 60km south of Frankfurt (Main), well-equipped laboratories form the basis of customized implementation of the microwave (or plasma) systems into the even complex production processes of the customers:

• The design and the construction of electrical and electronic components like microwave transformers as well as the conceptual design of all required circuits in digital, analog, microprocessor, interface and programmable logic controller (PLC) technology based on the corresponding software is performed in MUEGGE’s electronics laboratory.

• Comprehensive measurement equipment, including a spectrum analyzer, a high-frequency network analyzer, a high-power impedance analyzer, power meters, auto-tuning elements and three-dimensional simulation software, supports development work in the microwave laboratory of MUEGGE.

• The plasma laboratory at MUEGGE facilities offers several low pressure and atmospheric pressure plasma sources for surface etching and for waste gas abatement, designed for satisfying the requirements of semiconductor industry and of micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) technology in particular, for surface coating, functionalization and cleaning, etc. Mechanical and optical analytical instrumentation for surface characterization is available, too.

Field offices and partner companies are located in the USA, Japan, Taiwan and China, providing international field service and technical support. Since the end of 2008, MUEGGE is incorporated into Roth&Rau AG, which itself is part of Meyer Burger Technology AG since 2011.
