Cruz Martins Wahl, Lda., Is a steel and alloyed iron foundry, specialist in wear-resistant materials. The company was founded in 30 October 1981 by Engineer Cruz Martins as Cruz Martins & Companhia Lda.
In 1984 the German Company - Vautid GmbH based in Stuttgart, became partner of Cruz Martins & Companhia Lda thereafter designated as Cruz Martins & Wahl, Lda (CMW). Still in 1984, CMW begins its industrial production in the facilities located in Lousado, Vila Nova de Famalicão(CMW1). With the company development and growth, a new production unit (CMW2) was built in the same location and became operational in 1994. In 2000 a third manufacturing plant located in Tramagal, Abrantes was acquired (MDF).
In CMW1, the production is made in an automatic green sand moulding system and the main casted material is high chromium white iron. In the second factory, CMW2, steel and refractory alloys, stainless steel, high manganese and bimetallic materials are casted in two different systems: manual and in an automatic resin bonded moulding machine. In MDF Tramagal the production is more suitable for the castings weighing up to 7 tons. There are also two resin bonded moulding systems: manual or semi automatic moulding machine.
CMW castings are incorporated in equipments that work in extreme conditions of wear mainly caused by abrasion, corrosion, high temperature, or a combination of these forms of wear. The installed production capacity is over 7500 tons of castings per year in which more than 80% it is for export.
