Enhancing and preserving the value of customers components, the company offers the following services from its base in Velden, near Munich, Germany.
Consistently and reliably removing burrs caused by separation, thermal fatigue cracks and mould removal defects from castings, has been our specialty for many years. We always achieve the highest and most consistent quality level even for complex engine components which may, for instance be powder coated for the purpose of corrosion protection. Even the most advanced and demanding surface quality requirements are safe in our hands.
Obtaining a consistent blasting result on aluminium castings produced in series with high design requirements cannot be taken for granted. Sterr & Eder Industrieservice has built up specialist know-how and special plant technology to meet these requirements.
Sterr & Eder Industrieservice has specialised in heat treatment of aluminium castings for many years and can carry out all significant heat treatments from T4 through T5 and T6 to T7 in our facilities. We have 4 high-performance precision facilities from renowned manufacturers, including measurement technology and hardness testing, which enable us to offer annual capacity of around 4000 t.
As a preliminary or follow-up action, it is necessary in many cases to put components through a washing and de-greasing process. This may be possible before sealing, for instance, after the crack test, fettling or in other circumstances in which the work piece surface has to be dust and grease-free or free from other substances adhering to it.
A high-performance washing facility is available for this purpose which has a high throughput rate and achieves the best washing results
If components are exposed to high stress levels in their final state or if they have to fulfill safety functions, a crack test is generally required.
The dye penetrant procedure is a surface testing procedure which is used to detect cracks and other open surface defect points on all solid bodies. With the flexible design of our crack test facilities, it is possible for our highly skilled staff to test various designs of parts according to DIN standards and other procedures.
Guaranteeing uniform product quality also means having precise knowledge of the internal structure of products so that practicable quality requirements can be defined. Examining work pieces by X-ray is a procedure particularly suited to detecting sub-surface defects such as cavities, gas or slag inclusions.
We offer our customers high-quality inspection in random sample and series tests which we carry out with trained staff.
Sterr & Eder offers vacuum impregnation with Ultraseal Internationals global benchmark recycling sealant Rexeal 100™ to reliably and permanently solve the problem of porosity in castings.
we offer our customers leakage tests using the submersion and leakage rate test procedure or differential pressure methods.
Dimensionally accurate parts are a prerequisite for the smooth operations of subsequent processes such as in the construction of body panels and doors. In particular, heat treated castings or those with distortion undergo the straightening process and are brought into “shape”.
By surveying critical measurements, the actual values are determined and the target dimensions are achieved by plastic deformation in the straightening process
Our competency extends to simple processing procedures such as drilling or thread cutting/shaping, as well as assembly of components, threads and screw inserts.
