The Supermag* magnesia graphite range for Basic Oxygen Furnaces has been specifically developed to provide improved performance in steel making. The inherent thermodynamic stability of magnesia and non-wetting nature of flake graphite results in a highly slag resistant system. With the addition of an effective resin bonding system the Supermag* magnesia graphite products offer excellent thermal and mechanical properties together with a high degree of resistance to slag infiltration and subsequent modification.

BOF Taphole Systems

Vesuvius manufacture and supply a range of sleeves and seating blocks as well as straight, stepped or fully conical taphole bores. Pre-assembled or individual piece repair tapholes can be supplied at lengths to suit the age of the BOF.
Taphole systems can also be supplied as one-piece high pressure, isostatically pressed up to 1.8m in length.

Bath Agitation and Tuyere Systems

Vesuvius can supply either fixed Bath agitation elements or a replacement tuyere system. This system can be installed during the BOF campaign. The replacement tuyere provides better temperature distribution, scrap dissolution and promotes post blow elemental removal. Replaceable tuyere elements extend bottom stirring availability in comparison to conventional bath agitation elements.
