With a new study programme, Allensbach University in Baden-Württemberg wants to specifically prepare students for a career in small and medium-sized enterprises. For this purpose, the specialisation in SME and craft business management was integrated into the part-time Bachelor of Business Administration study course.
In 2020, small and medium-sized enterprises accounted for 3.35 million firms, which employ more than 54 percent of the employed workforce. Qualified employees are important in order to remain competitive. To prepare students for a career in SMEs, the Allensbach University in Konstanz created the “Bachelor of Business Administration and Management” with the course specialisation in “SME and craft business management".
During their Business Administration studies, graduates gain a sound knowledge of project, process and quality management and familiarise themselves with legal principles. “In addition, the course specialisation prepares students specifically for an entrepreneurial function in the company. Apart from general economic subjects, the topics of company life-cycle-related SME and craft business management, project, quality and process management in SMEs and craft businesses and specific legal principles of SME and craft business management are also taught”, says Professor Sonja Keppler, head of the Bachelor of Business Administration programme in Konstanz.
