In 2003, FOSECO, a leading supplier of foundry consumables, and MAGMA, a leading provider of casting process simulation and virtual optimization, decided to combine their complementary product portfolios. In this context, FOSECO also decided to implement the MAGMASOFT® simulation program in its application teams worldwide.
For this purpose, MAGMA developed the first version of the FOSECO Pro module, the first database covering the main FOSECO feeder and filtration products in terms of their 3D geometries and modeling their behavior during the casting process. This allows users to quantitatively consider the FOSECO product range in their simulation analyses. The FOSECO Pro module, which is successfully used by many foundries worldwide, has now been extended.
Database for FOSECO feeder and filtration products
The new version of the Pro module provides MAGMASOFT® users with a modern database that is fully integrated into the new MAGMASOFT® 6.0 user interface. The database allows to search and select from the available FOSECO product range and to load 3D assemblies with the corresponding geometries and product properties. The module is still fully compatible with MAGMASOFT® autonomous engineering functions and allows the user to select the appropriate products for the given quality requirements.
The new functionality in the FOSECO Pro module interface integrates access to complex geometries that were previously stored in a separate database. The list of filter products has been extended to include KALPUR®, the SCK direct casting system, and the recommended filter position models for iron and steel filtration. For the simulation of steel castings, the Pro module now also contains data for the HOLLOTEX Shroud system, including manifolds and filter boxes.
