At the beginning of this year, Johann Grohmann GmbH & Co. KG acquired a 50% stake in the company Uhlmann GmbH, a manufacturer of aluminium castings made using the pressure-casting method.
Technically, this method is a combination of pressure die casting, chill casting and forging aluminium. For Günter Kraus, managing director and board member of Uhlmann GmbH, the acquisition is an important fork in the road for the future of the company. “Besides utilising technological synergies, the cooperation with Grohmann opens up new market potentials and distribution networks, which provide a foundation for further growth.”
Johann Grohmann GmbH & Co. KG is a third-generation family-owned business with almost a hundred years of foundry tradition. Grohmann considers cast-forging to be an attractive addition to the existing product and technology spectrum, says Kay Mattern, managing director at Johann Grohmann GmbH & Co. KG.
The technology allows the targeted and optimised use of different physical, mechanical, technological and chemical properties. The pressure tightness of components as well as pronounced suitability for welding, high strength and expanding properties and a high degree of conductivity for warmth and electric charges are only some examples of the method’s technical potential.
