When it comes to coatings, different behaviours have to be considered when applying these auxiliary materials depending on the filling material and the substrate. This also applies to the liquid properties of different coatings, which can vary widely. The HÜTTENES-ALBERTUS Group has developed novel water-based foundry coatings for hand moulding which have optimised rheological properties.
The new moulding material coatings which are applied through flooding or dipping are characterised by a reduced absorption of diluents in the moulding material as well as optimised flow characteristics and automatic smoothing of the coated surfaces. This behaviour makes it possible to smooth the different areas of moulds and cores over a longer period of time, if necessary. The reduced absorption of water also makes drying at lower temperatures possible, and therefore a markedly shorter drying time. Aside from the properties of application, the improved drying time creates a large energy saving potential for the customers.
