New order acquired for exhaust gas recirculation valves

The company Rheinmetall has acquired a strategically important first order for valves for exhaust gas recirculation (EGR valves) from an internationally active new customer in the trucks segment. The customer ordered poppet valves and flap valves for use in the heavy duty and medium duty sectors (HD and MD). The valves meet the highest requirements for exhaust gas valves according to the EURO-7 standard. The number ordered is almost 1 million parts over life time. The value of the order is a three-digit number of millions of euros. Volume production and the delivery of spare parts will commence in 2026. The project is set to develop into a long-term partnership.

The valves will be used in exhaust gas recirculation systems, which serve to lower both nitrogen emissions and the consumption of fuel. With regard to the stricter emission laws being passed in the USA, Asia and Europe, there will continue to be a high demand for long-term support in the engine sector.

As a globally active company, Rheinmetall is in a position to support engine manufacturers from different regions in the best possible way as they comply with the ever more demanding emission regulations (EU7, TREM 5, Post EPA 10, Stage 5) which differ from region to region for engines in the private and commercial sector. Further, Rheinmetall as a development partner is working with several manufacturers to develop concepts for recirculating exhaust gases in conjunction with new emission and carbon standards.

With this new acquisition the corporation emphasises its strategic goal to in the long term maintain and expand its global leadership in the area of reducing emissions. Over the course of the project, further follow-up orders from other notable manufacturers are expected, especially in the area of MD applications, in the hydrogen application business and for purely electrical vehicles.
