Change of management at voxeljet AG: Rudolf Franz takes over as Managing Director
Dr Ingo Ederer looks back with pride on the last 25 years, during which voxeljet has celebrated numerous successes. “The past year was the most successful in our company’s history. This would not have been possible without the commitment and hard work of our entire team. I look forward to continuing to support my colleagues and guiding the company on its path to growth,” said Dr Ederer.
Rudolf Franz, previously CFO, will now lead voxeljet as CEO alongside the expanded management team. “I would like to thank Ingo for the trust-based collaboration over the past 20 years and look forward to his support in the future,” explained Franz. The Supervisory Board paid tribute to Dr Ederer’s long-standing commitment and welcomed Rudolf Franz as the new CEO. He will contribute his extensive knowledge of voxeljet to the further development of the global business.
voxeljet’s vision and projects
voxeljet’s vision remains to establish a new production standard. In 2022, a significant milestone was reached with the successful commissioning of the ICP project at the BMW Group plant in Landshut, where hundreds of thousands of casting cores are printed fully automatically. This technology is also set to be applied in other markets, including with the VX1000 HSS.
Another major project is the development of a new casting cell for wind energy components weighing up to 60 tonnes as part of a research consortium led by GE Renewable Energy (now GE Vernova). This project utilises the massive VX9000 3D printer, which can print around 300 tonnes of material to manufacture wind turbine components such as the nacelle.
voxeljet is seeing rising demand for inorganic binders for the cold IOB technology announced in 2023. This technology is being optimised to achieve tighter tolerances and greater stability during casting, and has already received positive feedback from customers.
In the field of on-demand printed parts, voxeljet has seen innovative applications in recent years, particularly in the architecture and art markets. Driven by the ‘Gigacasting’ trend, customers are increasingly ordering larger quantities of large parts. voxeljet’s technology offers significant advantages in terms of scalability and cost per part. The primary aim is to increase productivity and extend the scope of application of binder jetting and HSS technology to series production.
