Going forward, the two companies will merge their operations to offer customers an expanded product portfolio and enhanced after-sales support, whilst strengthening their global presence. ExOne Global Holdings will continue to operate the regional sites in Germany, the United States, Japan, China and India. These sites form the joint organisation and will continue and further expand local and regional activities across all business areas. Under the new structure:

  • Eric Bader, currently Managing Director of ExOne GmbH, will take on the role of Chief Executive Officer of ExOne Global Holdings.
  • Rudolf Franz, currently CEO of voxeljet AG, will remain in his role as CEO until the end of the year and will then join the Supervisory Board of the holding company.
  • Whitney Haring-Smith, Managing Partner at Anzu Partners, will take on the role of Chair of the Executive Board of the holding company.

This management structure is designed to combine the in-depth technical expertise of both organisations whilst ensuring strong strategic direction and continuity. The managing directors of the respective national subsidiaries will remain unchanged.

“Our customers and partners will benefit from stability and continuity in future,” said Eric Bader. “By combining ExOne’s leadership in digital sand casting with voxeljet’s expertise in large-format industrial 3D printing for sand and precision casting, we aim to make the most of our combined strengths, ensure reliability and drive new growth.”

“We are delighted to bring together two of the most renowned names in industrial binder jetting and large-format additive manufacturing,” says Whitney Haring-Smith. “Both companies, ExOne and voxeljet, have their own particular strengths and customer relationships. Under joint ownership and leadership, we intend to drive innovation forward more quickly and deepen our customer relationships even further.”

“I am honoured to join the supervisory board of the new holding company,” says Rudolf Franz. “For decades, ExOne and voxeljet have shaped the foundry industry through additive manufacturing and set new standards. The reunion of the founders and pioneers of 3D sand printing represents an important new step.”

By merging the organisations, Anzu is creating a sustainable network for additive manufacturing, designed for growth and stability. Together, ExOne and voxeljet have already installed more than 500 industrial 3D printers for customers across every continent. As part of this strategy, the companies will leverage complementary technology portfolios, joint research and development activities, efficient operational 3D printing solutions and cross-selling opportunities across both customer bases.
