Dr Martin Theuringer, managing director of the German Steel Association in Berlin, will take over as chief executive of the Federal Association of the German Foundry Industry (BDG) in Düsseldorf at the turn of the year 2025/26. Theuringer succeeds Max Schumacher, who is retiring after 32 years with the association.

BDG President Clemens Küpper: “In Dr Martin Theuringer, we have secured our ideal candidate for the association – thanks to his excellent contacts in Berlin’s political circles and his expertise in economic policy, he will be very active in championing the issues facing our energy-intensive industrial SMEs.”
With more than 20 years’ experience in economic and energy policy, as well as his role as Managing Director of the German Steel Association (Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl), Theuringer brings the expertise needed to successfully lead the foundry industry into the future, even in challenging times.
