Fully electric mould handling for DISA MATCH – faster operation, easier maintenance and lower costs

The new AMH replaces hydraulic power with state-of-the-art electric servo drives. These enable highly precise and smooth control of mould transport, as well as acceleration, deceleration and speed. The use of electric drives reduces total operating costs and enhances sustainability, as they are easier to maintain, consume less electricity and do not require hydraulic oil.

“We are introducing the latest technology in our new fully electric AMH for DISA MATCH,” says Kasper Paw Madsen, Vice President of Portfolio Development at DISA. “Our new AMH features the latest electric servo drives, which transport the moulds gently yet very efficiently and improve the performance of MATCH in many areas, from higher production rates and uptime to reduced maintenance and operating costs.”

Electric servo motors offer many advantages

Together with the DISA MATCH, the new AMH is the perfect solution for foundries looking to upgrade their existing moulding line and increase capacity. The new servo drives transport the moulds more gently to ensure mould integrity and increase transport speed. Existing and future DISA MATCH customers will be delighted with the new AMH, as it fits perfectly with the recently launched MATCH Speed-Up Kits, which increase the maximum moulding speed to 210 core-drawn moulds per hour.

“The new AMH reduces operating costs as it consumes less energy and requires less frequent maintenance,” explains Lars Hjelm, Global Product Manager for Moulding at DISA. “Its lower energy consumption makes it more sustainable, and there is no need to change or dispose of oil. It also makes the working environment cleaner and quieter.”

Capture valuable AMH data in Monitizer

The new AMH is easier to install and its more compact motors fit neatly under the ends of the conveyor belts. Thanks to its smaller footprint, it can be housed in a smaller area or allow moulds to cool for longer on the same floor space. This makes it ideal for foundries with limited space.

Real-time data from the electric drives can be fed into IIoT systems such as Monitizer for monitoring, analysis, predictive maintenance and other applications. For example, fluctuations in motor metrics such as drive load can provide an early warning of emerging problems.

“DISA has already sold more than 10 new AMHs in North America alone, including a fully electric AMH at the DISA MATCH 20/24 at Gamma Foundries in Richmond, Canada,” says Bo Wolff Haugbølle, Vice President of OEM Sales at DISA. “The first one will be installed later in 2025.
