Europe’s largest core shooting machine from Laempe Mössner Sinto
Luitpoldhütte GmbH plans to use the LHN 100-350 to produce large cores for the agricultural sector, in particular gearbox and rear axle housings weighing up to 800 kg. This task requires a core shooting machine capable of producing large cores weighing up to 500 kg in a single shot. In September 2023, Luitpoldhütte placed an order for the specially adapted LHN 100-350. This machine has been upgraded from a shot volume of 100 to 350 litres, making it the largest core shooting machine of its kind in Europe. Luitpoldhütte’s customers include renowned companies such as Case New Holland, Fendt, Valtra, Massey Ferguson, John Deere, Claas, MAN, Liebherr and Caterpillar.
A bespoke solution for the customer – setting new standards for the industry
“With the design of the LHN 100-350, we are setting new standards in the industry and once again demonstrating our ability to develop bespoke solutions for our customers’ specific requirements,” says André Klimm, Managing Director of Laempe Mössner Sinto. “The collaboration with Luitpoldhütte was a fantastic challenge, which we successfully mastered together.”
The plant comprises a mixer, two gas units, a sand separator and two control cabinets – one for the machine itself, the other for the peripherals. Luitpoldhütte’s requirements made the project a prototypical challenge. Particularly exciting was the adaptation to the local conditions in Amberg, where Luitpoldhütte provided the platform, sand silo and core box, as well as preparing the foundation and a roof extension for the machine complex, which stands over 14 metres tall.
“The new LHN 100-350 from Laempe Mössner Sinto represents a significant step forward for our production. With this state-of-the-art plant, we are able to significantly increase our production capacity and continue to supply our customers with products of the highest quality,” says Frank Schild, Managing Director of Luitpoldhütte GmbH. “Our collaboration with Laempe has always been professional and goal-oriented.”
LHN 100-350 Luitpoldhütte:
Width: 8.80 metres
Depth (length): 7.67 metres
Height: 6.40 metres plus 0.5 metres foundation
Total height of structure including sand silos: 13.8 metres plus 0.5 metres of foundation
Total weight (including core box): approx. 90 tonnes
This is not the first project for Laempe involving a gigantic core shooting machine: In 2022, Laempe built an LHL200-1700 core shooting machine, which also set new industry standards with a shot volume of 1,700 litres and sand cores weighing up to 2.5 tonnes. The customer uses the cores produced by the LHL200-1700 in its foundry as moulded parts for ship engines.
