Strong position in the automotive industry
With nearly 50 years’ experience, Turkey is now one of the region’s leading automotive suppliers. Globally, the country is one of the largest vehicle manufacturers and ranks third in Europe. Metal, plastic and rubber components are supplied from there to numerous locations around the world – including the plants of leading OEMs and their suppliers. Automotive parts remain Turkey’s most important export and account for the largest share of industrial exports.

Technological leadership in high-pressure die-casting
Turkey remains one of Europe’s leading suppliers, particularly in the manufacture of high-pressure die-cast components for the automotive industry. Many companies closely follow current industry trends in order to secure their market position in the long term.

Turkish manufacturers are aware that international competition demands more than just low wages. To implement projects with high added value, they focus on technical excellence and invest in state-of-the-art plant technology. An impressive example of this forward-looking approach is Alpar Metal A.Ş., based in Izmir. The company specialises in niche components for various European OEMs.

CEO Akın Mergen is convinced: the new megacasting components present Turkey with new challenges – and require not only excellent high-pressure die-casting machines, but also strong local engineering teams capable of manufacturing these components to the required quality and at competitive costs.

“Opting for Bühler for a machine of this scale is a completely reliable and logical decision,” explains Mergen. “All my research, the reference visits and the technical information I have received confirm that Bühler is the right choice.”

Bühler’s Carat 440 sets new standards
The exceptional process stability, high cell compatibility and superior technical features – from the control panel right through to the servo motors – convinced Mergen of the Carat-440 die-casting solution with a clamping force of 4,400 tonnes.

The almost fully equipped die-casting cell is the largest high-pressure die-casting machine in Turkey to date. Its completion on schedule is the result of close collaboration between the technical teams at Bühler and Alpar Metal.

Focus on efficiency and sustainability
The Carat 440’s megacasting capabilities enable the production of larger, lighter and more highly integrated components – a significant step towards greater efficiency and sustainability. This state-of-the-art technology is thus providing new impetus for the automotive industry in Turkey. The investment not only strengthens local manufacturing expertise but also highlights the transformative potential of next-generation industrial technologies.
