Change at the helm of Norican
The Board of Directors of Norican A/S has appointed Thomas Körmendi as the company’s new President and CEO. He succeeds Anders Wilhjelm, under whose leadership Norican has undergone a phase of expansion. Norican’s majority shareholder is the private equity firm Altor Fund IV.
Norican sees this appointment as a step towards the company’s further development as an international provider of technologies for metal forming, surface preparation and industrial networking. Körmendi emphasises the long-term importance of metal as a material for various industries. Metal is recyclable, durable and relevant to areas such as electric mobility and renewable energy, amongst others.
In his new role, Körmendi intends first and foremost to develop a deeper understanding of the business and to work closely with the teams across the global organisation and the company’s brands. Together with customers, the aim is to drive innovation, expand strategic markets and strengthen long-term business relationships.
International leadership experience in the industry
Before joining Norican, Thomas Körmendi spent eight years as CEO of Elopak. In this role, he led the Norwegian packaging company’s international growth strategy and oversaw its transformation into a listed company. He later stepped down from the role to return to Denmark.
Søren Johansen, a partner at Altor, pays tribute to the achievements of the outgoing CEO, Anders Wilhjelm, and highlights Körmendi’s international leadership experience. This is set to support Norican’s further development and create added value for customers and other stakeholders.
Körmendi particularly highlights Norican’s global presence, its established brands and the specialist expertise of its teams. He thus takes up his new role in an environment that combines industrial expertise, international markets and technological solutions for the metalworking sectors.
Norican as a supplier to foundries and industry
Norican is an international group of companies headquartered in Denmark. The company provides technologies for foundries and other industrial sectors. These include solutions for metal forming, surface preparation and the Industrial Internet of Things.
In addition to development and manufacturing, Norican offers customer support via a global service network. The group operates production facilities and branches across five continents.
The change in leadership remains relevant to the foundry and metal industries because Norican operates in several technological areas that play a role in modern manufacturing processes. These include plant and process technology as well as digital connectivity and services for industrial customers.
